Jurassic Coast of UK Weekender

The Jurassic Coast is a stunning part in the south coast of England. We only spent a night which wasn’t long enough but still great to get a taste of the area and it also means we will be back!

We left early on Saturday morning and drove down to Westbourne (right near Bournemouth) for a lunch stop at Chez Fred. They had good fish and chips and a lunch deal for £9.75 which included the fish, unlimited chips, mushy peas and a drink.

We then drove to Corfe Castle. We didn’t go inside the castle as it was a steep £11 entry but we walked around the surrounding area and the town is also super cute.

We drove to Studland to the South Beach Car Park and walked to Old Harry’s Rocks. It is a easy walk out and stunning coastline awaits.

Afterwards, we went to the Bankes Arms Inn for a drink with a view.

We stayed at Swallows Rest B&B which was a farmhouse in Weymouth. There were chickens and ducks around the gardens and a nice place to relax.

For dinner, we walked down to The Crab House (which was apparently named the best restaurant in the UK the week before!) and shared the scallops and squid and we had a whole crab each. The crab was meaty and so delicious! For dessert, I had the Dorset apple cake which was nice.

The next day we had breakfast at the B&B which was a nice touch as the food was cooked to order.

We then drove to Lulworth Cove for our 9am kayak tour. We did it through Jurassic Coast Activities and the kayak tour costs £65 for 3 hours. Although it is on the more expensive side, it was a great way to get outdoors and see the Jurassic Coast in a different way. We were also lucky that it was only the three of us on the tour! We kayaked to Durdle Door and had a little rest break to enjoy the scenery, then on the way back, stopped by and explored different caves.

After we got back, we went up to a view point to see Lulworth Cove from above (of course we had to get an ice cream beforehand!).

We had to back track to Weymouth as Kevin forgot his jacket at the B&B but this meant we could see Chesil Beach and have lunch at Quiddles Cafe. The calamari was on point!

As we had limited time, I would love to come back and see more of this part of England!
