Whistler Blackcomb in Canada is well renowned as one of the largest ski resorts in North America and has world class skiing, restaurants and experiences. The village is charming and has everything you need. We spent eight nights here and spent seven days skiing, complemented by a spa/sauna experience and eating and drinking at fantastic restaurants and bars.
Day 1
Our first day of skiing was settling in (weather wasn’t the best) and getting familiar with the runs. We had lunch (burgers) and drinks at The Longhorn Saloon then headed back to our airbnb to use the hot tub. In the evening, we had dinner at Pizzeria Antico. The atmosphere was relaxed and the pizzas were decent.

Day 2
We had a great day on the slopes with great weather. We went to Merlin’s for lunch and I shared the the butter chicken poutine (interesting combo but it worked) and the beetroot, goats cheese, quinoa bowl which were both good portion sizes too. We went back to Longhorn after some more skiing for lots of drinks as it was Sarah’s birthday. For dinner, we went to Mongolie Grill and had beef and noodles with rice which was pretty decent. You pick the ingredients you want and they cook it on a grill in front of you. They don’t take reservations but we were able to get a table easily.

Day 3
The visibility was a hit and miss today. We did the peak to creek run which was hard because you could barely see ahead of you and there was a lot of moguls. However, the weather did improve later on during the day. For lunch, I got my Australian pie fix at Peaked Pies. In the evening, Adele cooked us tartiflette and we took it easy.

Day 4
I went off by myself this morning to ski then met the others at Black’s where I had the poutine (which was way too salty) for lunch and a beer. We had a drink and a snack at Beacon Pub and Eatery before heading to dinner at Hys Steakhouse. It’s more formal and although the filet I got was decent, for the price point, it was slightly overrated.

Day 5
The skiing today was excellent due to a blue bird day. We explored the 7th Heaven area of Blackcomb which was beautiful and one of my favourite areas on the mountain. I went to Splitz Grill for lunch and their cheeseburger was on point. We then headed to Scandinave in the late afternoon for the thermal experience. It was super relaxing and a silent retreat where you hop between hot pools and rooms to cold plunge pools. We went to Brickworks for dinner and the food and drinks were excellent and one of the best places we went to in Whistler. The cocktail and gin menu is extensive and the atmosphere was great. I got the duck duo which was citrus glazed seared duck breast and confit duck which came with oyster mushroom risotto, vegetables and herbs which worked well together. The service was friendly and helpful too. We went to Buffalo Bills at night and it was good fun playing pool and dancing (although we felt super old as there were a lot of people in their late teens, early 20s.)

Day 6
The weather wasn’t the best today but we still got a few hours of skiing in the morning. We went to Christine’s On Blackcomb and it was a great place to have a mountain view lunch. I had the scallops (fresh and tasty) and the keralan cod curry with coconut rice (decent cod size and flavourful). The cocktails were also nice and well balanced. We skiied some more after lunch then headed to Garibaldi Lift Co Bar for some drinks.

Day 7
The weather was excellent so I did the most skiing on my last day. I decided to the Peak to Creek run again and the visibility was great but the actual run was awful as it was super icy and uneven. The views were stunning though! On Whistler, my favourite runs were the harmony and symphony bowls which I did more of today. We went to the Raven Room in the late afternoon and enjoyed their happy hour cocktails and food (tuna tartare and fried chicken). For dinner, we went to Araxi where the food was excellent.

Day 8
The next morning, we packed and walked around Whistler Village before getting a transfer back to Vancouver.

I had a lot of fun on this trip and the skiing in Canada is incomparable to Europe, offering a unique and exceptional experience.
