New York City – one of the greatest cities in the world! I had truly high expectations for this place and they really met up to my expectations. Only 5 nights in the city that never sleeps but I got to see a good glimpse of it! I was even more excited to come here because Abby was living here for the summer. It was so great to hang out and party with her in NYC!
I had the pleasure to stay with Abby and Danielle in Brooklyn and we headed to Momofuku Noodle Bar and had the ramen with pork belly, pork shoulder and poached egg which was spot on! We walked around East Village and then headed down to Soho for some afternoon cocktails.

Next day we headed to MoMa (Museum of Modern Art). The artworks were very creative and intriguing and is worth a visit! It cost $25 which I thought was a bit pricey but with my student discount it was $14. At night, we pre drank with Abby and her friends and then headed to see Animal Collective DJ set at Brooklyn Bowl – it was messy but fun night!

Highlights of my time here include:
Catching the free Straten Island ferry which passed the Statue of Liberty, seeing Wall Street, World Trade Center, going up to the Top of the Rock at the Rockefeller Center and hanging out at Central Park. We also went to Slake for a free gig where Opiou played.

Got to hang out with Anki and Noman who I met in Venice last year and we walked across the Brooklyn Bridge, checked out Grand Central Station, walked through High Line (old train track converted into garden and walkway) and walked through Times Square. It was really lovely to catch up!
Went shopping in Soho and went to Jay Z’s restaurant, The Spotted Pig. I had the sheep’s milk ricotta gnudi with brown butter and sage and they were pockets of heaven! I had to get a cupcake at nearby and famous Magnolia’s bakery. I went to Central Park to hang out and in the evening, caught up with Billy who I met in Barcelona last year. We went to Dos Caminos, a great Mexican Place on 3rd Avenue for dinner and then had some drinks at Lower East Side at a few bars.
On my final night, Abby and I went to Rabbithole Restaurant in Williamsburg and then headed to Campbell’s Apartment to meet Jess (who I met in Rome last year). The bar is hidden inside Grand Central Station and is a chic 1920’s speak easy bar with amazing cocktails. It was great to catch up with her but a shame the catch up was only short as she had to go back to work!
