Hunter Valley Girls Weekend Away

Some of the old KPMG girls and I have a little tradition of taking each other out to a nice restaurant to celebrate each other’s birthday. For Jess and Athi’s birthdays, we decided to make it a weekend away in the Hunter Valley.

We arrived on Friday night and had a classy night with Oportos and wine in our cute cottage at Chez Vous.

The next day we went to Cafe Enzo for breakfast then the rest of the day was spent of wine tasting. We visited the following wineries: David Hook, Glandore Estate Wines, Audrey Wilkinson, Cockfighter’s Ghost and Tempus Two. Each had a different charm and some good wines but my favourite was Cockfighter’s Ghost.

We went to Muse Restaurant, the two hatted restaurant on Saturday night. The wine was flowing and the food and service was fabulous. Definitely recommend going here when in the Hunter! Afterwards, we headed to Harrigan’s Pub for some drinks and a dance. We were told this was pretty much the only place to go out in Cessnock and there was a hilarious mix of people from young 18 year olds, oldies, bogans, hen’s parties and then us haha. There was a live band and the music was great so we danced the night away.

On Sunday, we had a lazy morning and then went to Circa 1876 for lunch and it was a lovely setting (at Peppers Winery). We had wine, good food and dessert and then headed back to Sydney.

It was a lovely way to spend a weekend away relaxing, catching up, wine tasting and dining!
