Orange in Central NSW is only 3.5 hours away from Sydney and is known for their cool climate wines as well as their growing café and restaurant scene. We decided that Orange was a great choice to have a girls weekend to wine and dine!
Compared to Sydney, Orange was much colder so we were rugged up and was ready to wine taste on Saturday.
Bloodwood Wines
The wines at Bloodwood were excellent and the service by Steve was warm, friendly and very personalised. You need to make a booking for the wine tasting so give them a call before visiting the cellar door.
Printhie
Next we went to Printhie and their sparkling wine was amazing.
Philip Shaw
This was our least favourite winery based on the service as well as the wine itself. We had a cheese platter and warm olives and went through 8 different wines. You pay $5 for the tasting which is redeemable on any purchase.
For Saturday night dinner, we headed to Lolli Redini, a hatted restaurant and one of Orange’s best restaurants. The food was superb!
After a fantastic dinner, we headed to Washington & Co for drinks. It was a cool small bar and had a great atmosphere. We enjoyed some cocktails to end the night.
The next morning, we went to Byng Street Cafe to grab breakfast on the go.
Ross Hill
The last winery for the weekend was Ross Hill.
For lunch, we headed to Racine. It is located in on a wonderful property with a nice outdoor setting and the food was excellent. After the long lunch with our bellies full, we headed back to Sydney in the afternoon.
If you’re pondering where to go for a weekend trip, check out Orange – you won’t regret it!
